Uvalde---Sterling Fly, 66, president emeritus of Southwest Texas Junior College, died at his home here Tuesday morning. The junior college experienced its greatest expansion in the July 1953 to July 1962 period when Fly was the president. He was given the emeritus title when ill health forced his retirement in 1962. A native of Hondo, he was an educator all his adult life. He was superintendent of schools for 28 years at Crystal City before coming here.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the First Methodist Church here. Burial will be in the Uvalde Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Fly, Uvalde; two sons, Dr. Sterling H. Fly, Uvalde, and Bob Fly, Crystal City; a daughter, Mrs. Pat Kelley, Austin; a brother, O. A. Fly, Hondo; two sisters, Miss Willie D. Fly, Hondo, and Mrs. R. C. Barton, Buda, and 12 grandchildren.
