Bayley) Rosemeyer, age 96, of Platteville, died on Monday, Nov. 2, 2009 at her home. Katherine was born in Livingston on Sept. 30, 1913, the daughter of A.K. and Eva (Livingston) Bayley. She graduated from Livingston High School in 1931 and following her graduation from the Platteville State Teachers College in 1935 she taught in the DeForest High School for three years. On June 30, 1938, she was untied in marriage to Bernard Rosemeyer. They resided in Platteville where she was active and remained interested in education. Katherine was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the St. Mary's CCW. She was a member of the Southwest Health Center Auxiliary and the Platteville Public Library Board for several years and served on various committees including St. Mary's Home and School Association and education committee at the high school and was initiated into the PEO Sisterhood in 1969.

She is survived by four children. Laurie Rosemeyer of St. Louis, Mo., JoAnn (Al) Romanov of St. Louis, Mo., Mary Rosemeyer of Platteville and Jim (Lorri) Rosemeyer of Platteville, eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Helen (Joseph) Turk .

She was preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband Bernard in 2000; her brother, Kirk Bayley in 1943 and Kirk's son, Patrick. Pat lived with Katherine and Bernard after his father's death until age 5. He was loved like a son and brother. Patrick K. Bayley died in 1981 at the age of 39. We would also like to remember Katherine's sisters (in-law) who preceded her in death, Alverna (Robert) Kopp of Platteville, Emeretha (John ) Orth of Platteville, Viola (Basil) Ludlum of Belmont and Margaret (Donald) Recob of Mexico, Mo.

Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Platteville. Monsignor Charles Schluter will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Platteville. Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. - 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at the Melby-Bendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, Platteville, where there will be a Scripture Wake Service at 5 p.m. Friends may also call after 9 a.m. Friday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Mary's School Fund.
