Howard Gordon Kirkpatrick was born 9 April 1927 in Denver, Denver County, Colorado. On 14 June 1947 he married in Denver to Maude Lenore Haak, daughter of Everett Edward and Lovie Elizabeth (Saulter) Haak.

Amarillo Globe-News, Amarillo, Texas, May 21, 2006: Howard G. Kirkpatrick, 79, of Amarillo died Thursday, May 18, 2006. Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Llano Cemetery with Dr. Winfred Moore officiating. Arrangements are by Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors, 2800 Paramount Blvd. Mr. Kirkpatrick was born April 9, 1927, in Denver. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in the Aleutian Islands from 1945 to 1947. He married Maudie Haak on June 14, 1947, in Denver. Howard graduated from the University of Colorado with a bachelor of science degree in civil engineering in 1950.
Howard was an Amarillo resident for 56 years and was a civil engineer with the city of Amarillo, Pantex and later self-employed. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers since 1964 and was a Registered Professional Engineer and Surveyor in the state of Texas. Howard loved beating the house at Black Jack and the latest computer technology. He extensively researched the Kirkpatrick genealogy and family history.
Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Janet Love and husband Bruce of Richmond, Calif., Connie Markert and husband Alan of San Antonio and Holly Cardinali and husband Gary of Valencia, Calif.; four grandchildren, Andrew and Dana Love, Lauren Markert and Wendy Cardinali; and a brother, Jack of Denver.
