"Also of Scale Hall, Lancaster, which he purchased from the Bradshaw family in1694. He also purchased the advowson of Whittington, near Kirkby Lonsdale, and in 1678 purchased one-third of the manor of Pilling, in the Fylde. The other parties were Christopher Ffox, of Spouthouse, in Nether Wyresdale, and henry Banastre, of Pilling. Mr. Edmund Hornby was a J.P. at the time of 2, Queen Anne; made his will in July 1716."
