All the information on this family which probably used the name NEWSAME(with an A rather than an O) initially before changing it in the nextgeneration? came from E-mail contact Eric D.R. "Bud" Newsom, 11425 GreatMeadows Dr., Reston, VA 22091; phone 703-860-0821. He speculates thatRichard might have been the Richard NEWSAME who came to the U.S. in 1774from London on the ship "Brilliant". He states the first definite evidence of OUR Richard's existence is in Steubenville, Jefferson Co, OH(then Northwest Territory. In that year Richard purchased several lotsin the recently formed town of Steubenville (intersting that is about thesame time I believe that my Philip B. GRIFFITH migrated there also, andmarried Elizabeth CROZIER there in 1803, the same year that my Richard'sdaughter, Elizabeth NEWSOM was born (Luke PERSINGER's wife).
