From George E. Persinger (Oct.92) in Seymour, IN: Luke came to Indianafrom VA with his wife & Mother after his father, John died. John had ahalf brother named Henry and this is George E. Persingers direct ancestor(Not Luke) However he is certain that Alfred R. Persinger was the 1stchild from Luke's 2nd wife Elizabeth (NEWSOM) PERSINGER.Later information found at the Historical Museum in Salem, IN (JeffersonTwp. cemetary records) shows Luke and Elizabeth are buried togetherthere. I have visited and photographed the grave site and found it verypretty but hard to get to. There were 2 fawns in the small cemetarywhich desperatly tried to get out. Also the Historical museum had an oldgun and powder holder which the museum had labeled as belonging to LukePersinger, early Washington County Pioneer. The museum personnel seemedexcited to show me these treasures and seemed happy to see a Persingerdescendant had come from 270 miles away to research the clan and theywere obviously proud of their work there. I have had some researcherstell me that Luke had 3 wives instead of 2 but I have not been able toverify that or get a name other than NEWSOM & STULL as the wives.
