According to the marriage lic issued by the City, Mary is the widow of the late Edward O'Brien at the age of 19

He would have been of age to serve, LA Confederate Soldiers Vol 3, Book 1, list 2 John J Murphy's - see image
Neither one seems to fit, and no family stories have been pasted down to indicate if John J Murphy even served.

Burial

Initially buried at St Patrick No1 but about 1888 William B Murphy had the bodies transferred to Metairie Cemetery.
