Individual Details
James John JOYCE
(3 Feb 1868 - 1936)
James was a shopkeeper in Longford town, initially on his own and later in partnership with a brother of his wife, Annie Kate (née Gordon), although we do not know which brother. James and Annie Kate eventually retired to Booterstown in Dublin. It appears James worked in the insurance business following his move to Dublin as the marriage certificate of his daughter Clare - who married in 1932, by which time it is believed James had moved to Dublin - tells us he was an insurance agent.
James's middle name is given as Joseph rather than John on the marriage certificate of his son, John.
James's middle name is given as Joseph rather than John on the marriage certificate of his son, John.
