Individual Details
Honora (Nora) HUDSON
(Abt 3 Dec 1875 - )
Nora's baptismal sponsors were Edmund Carr and Johanna Nolan.
Nora, an only child, grew up at 24 Church St., Listowel, the address of her parents' drapery business.
In the late 1890s, after the deaths of her parents and prior to her marriage in 1901, Nora ran a public house 33 Church St. She is listed in the 1901 census as a 22-year-old publican, although she was actually 25 years of age at this time. By the time of the 1911 census the pub was being run by a Michael Keane.
After her marriage Nora moved to South Africa where her husband, John, had been living. According to Hudson researcher Bill Hudson's in 'The Hudsons of Ballyeagh', Nora and her sons (number unspecified but it appears to have been no more than two) moved to Chicago, where her uncle William G. Hudson lived, and the family settled there. Apparently there are no living descendants.
