Individual Details

Eliza Beatrice Rose (Beatrice) EGAN

(18 Jun 1855 - Aft Apr 1926)

Eliza's baptismal sponsors were [what looks like] Francis Gleeson and Eliza [surname illegible].

Beatrice is listed in the 1871 census as a member of the household of her sister and brother-in-law Mary and Archibald Dunn in Hampstead, London. Included with Beatrice are her other sisters, Fanny and Alice. All three unmarried sisters are listed again with Mary and Archibald in the 1881 census, along with their brother Alfred, at 6 Westgate Terrace, Kensington, London. Beatrice and Fanny were single and still with Mary and Archibald - in Fulham, London - 10 years later. And we know from the 1926 obituary of her brother Edward that Beatrice, who would have been about 70 years of age at the time, had not married.

A death record has been located on the FreeBMD website for a Beatrice R. Egan who died in Surrey North East in 1934 aged 78. I think it likely that this is our Beatrice.
