Thade became the occupier of a 40-acre farm in Dirreen, Athea about 1865, around the time of his first marriage. The property had previously been in the occupancy of a Catherine Enright who had taken over from Thomas Enright in 1863. I had been told that Thade took over the running of his first wife's farm in Dirreen but his first wife's name appears to have been Catherine Sullivan, not Catherine Enright. Could Catherine Sullivan and Catherine Enright have been the same person, i.e., was Thade's wife, Catherine Sullivan, married to Thomas Enright before being married to Thade?
Thade farmed in Dirreen for many years. The farm was eventually sold to a Paddy Woulfe (a relative of his second wife, perhaps) but Thade continued to live in the old farmhouse. At the end of his life Thade was paraplegic but we do not know how this came about. He spent his final two years in hospital in Listowel, where he died.
