Individual Details

Thomas (Tom) John BARRETT

(Abt 20 Dec 1870 - 5 Feb 1951)

Tom's baptismal sponsors were John Thornton and Margaret Thornton.

Tom was known locally as Tom John Barrett (his father's name being added to distinguish him from other Tom Barretts in the area). Tom inherited the family farm in Dirreen. He and his wife, Maggie, had no children so they took in Patrick Kelly, a nephew of Maggie's (at what age we do not know) and passed the farm to him. Patrick in turn left the farm to his neighbour Tom Barrett, a son of Denny 'Brown' Barrett. Tom and Denny Brown were relatives of Tom John.
