James (Jim) KENNELLY

Jim emigrated to the United States, arriving in New York on 25 August 1909. According to the ship manifest he was joining a cousin, William Ryan, of the Hotel Egan, 79 Grand St., New York.
Jim's early life New York was difficult. However, he ended up doing very well and eventually became a captain in the New York City Fire Department. He was also involved in the Tin Pan Alley music business and was part-owner of a speakeasy.
Jim and his family lived in the Bronx, New York prior to moving to White Plains, New York. He also owned real estate in Florida, to where he retired in the late 1950s.
