Individual Details
Johanna (Hannah) O'SULLIVAN
(23 Oct 1885 - 15 Jan 1983)
According to information from the Mallow Heritage Centre, the sponsors at Hannah's baptism were George Church and Elizabeth Doody.
Hannah emigrated to England as a young woman and settled in Plymouth. From the 1911 census we know she was working as a servant at 8 Lockyer St., Plymouth, which appears to be a house attached to a school. She lived at this address up to the time of her marriage in 1915 as this address is provided on her marriage record. According to the 1911 census of her family back in Ireland, in which Hannah and several other absent children were listed in error (the enumerator has drawn a line through their details), Hannah was a nurse. It is evident that Hannah was not in fact a nurse. Perhaps she told her paents she worked as a nurse or perhaps her job in 1911 involved nursemaid duties.
Hannah and her husband, Harry, lived for many years at 251 Victoria Road, St. Budeaux, Plymouth. Harry predeceased Hannah by 27 years and it appears Hannah lived towards the end of her life at 106 Victory St., Plymouth, the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Margaret. Hannah died of a cerebral thrombosis at the age of 97.
