Individual Details

William CLARKE

(Abt 1851 - 25 Jul 1928)

William was a farmer and a justice of the peace. He also owned and operated a corn mill in Castlemore, Co. Mayo (near Ballaghaderreen). He and Kathleen lived in Castlemore House in Castlemore for many years before moving (sometime after the 1911 census, possibly as late as the 1920s) to Dublin where they lived at 6 Elgin Road in Ballsbridge.

According to the 1911 census, William and Kathleen had been married for 27 years and had nine children born alive, eight of whom were alive at the time of the census (Gordon having died in 1897).

The address where William died, 97 Lower Leeson St. in Dublin, appears to have been a nursing home at the time. His home address was still 6 Elgin Road. William died of "appendicitis with peritonitis", 17 months after the death of Kathleen.
