Individual Details
William MULLETT
(Abt 1875 - )
William worked in the circus and funfair business.
According to the 1901 census of Ireland, he was an electrician (for a circus perhaps?). The census also tells us the family was living on Craigavad St. in Belfast and were of the Church of England faith. By the time of the 1911 census the family was living in Pound Hill in Drishane, Co. Cork and William was a "travelling showman". The birth record of his son Joseph (1908) tell us he was a "proprietor of a travelling hobbyhorse", and by the time his daughter Eva was born (1917), he was a "travelling circus proprietor".
At some point between 1917 and 1921, William and his family moved to England. According to the 1921 census of England, he was living at the time in Kidderminsteer, Worcestershire with his wife, Celia, and three of their children (William, Joseph and Maud) and working as a general labourer for the W. P. Collins Roundabout (this was probably the travelling funfair company run by the prominent showman Pat Collins (1859-1943)).
By the time his daughter Maud married, in October 1936, Willliam and Celia were living in Barry Island, Wales.
