Individual Details
Mary BROWN
(15 Sep 1866 - 1951)
It appears that Mary met her future husband, Thomas, through her parents with whom Thomas was boarding. The 1881 census tells us that Thomas was lodging with William and Sarah Brown at the time, although Mary herself is not listed. Also listed among the Browns' four lodgers is a Patrick Gordon, born in Ireland and possibly Thomas's brother Patrick, although Thomas also had a first cousin of a similar age named Patrick.
We know that Mary was living at 6 Edward St. (since renamed Beverly Road), Ladybarn, Manchester at the time of the 1939 Register (taken on 29 September 1939). Living with her at the time were her children Annie, Mary and John, along with her grandson Frederick Beesley.
Mary is buried in grave no. H1168 in the Catholic section of Southern Cemetery.
