Individual Details
Daniel (Dan) KENNELLY
(22 Nov 1853 - 11 Aug 1887)
Dan was the brother of Nano, the first wife of Tom Stack, whose sister Dan would later marry. After Nano died in childbirth in 1877, Dan helped Tom on his farm in Gortdromagowna, and that was how Dan met Tom's sister, Mary, who had come from her home parish to live with Tom and help with the housekeeping.
After Mary became pregnant with Dan's child the couple married. Mary's brother Tom was apparently very supportive to them in such difficult circumstances for the time, and he gave them his farm and newly-built house in Gortdromagowna. Tom appears to have subsequently settled in Ballygoughlin, Glin, Co.Limerick.
Dan died of typhus aged 33, just over a year after the death of Mary. Their eldest child was aged eight and their youngest just one.
