James LYNCH

(19 May 1879 - 10 Nov 1926)

Sponsors at James's baptism were Bryan Doherty and Ellen Doherty.

James emigrated to the United States and settled in Boston where he became a police officer. However, he was fired along with all the other Boston police officers who went on strike in 1919. He subsequently took a job with the Boston Elevated Railway Company (for whom he worked at the time of his marriage) and became a construction foreman. While securing a worksite one evening, he was struck by a motor vehicle driven by someone who some family members believed intentionally hit him. He suffered severe injuries to his left arm and shoulder. Infection set in resulting in his death within days.
