John's address at the time of his marriage in 1871 was Ballyduhig (near Listowel), Co. Kerry. After his marriage he and his family lived on Church St. in Listowel. From the 1901 census we know he was a "Dyer and Draper". The census also has an 85-year-old widowed cousin named Mary O'Connell listed with the family. Mary was born in Irremore, Lixnaw, not far from Ballyduhig.
