Individual Details
Thomas MCKENNA
(Abt 1772 - 5 May 1835)
The Listowel Connection website tells us that Thomas was from Co. Monaghan and that he was the "brave United Irishman” from the well-known song The Boys of Wexford who married Jane Foulkes, “the captain’s daughter, the captain of the Yeos”. We are also told that "if local lore is to be believed,[Thomas and Jane] made their way to Kerry after the disaster of Vinegar Hill" and that they are buried in the Hegarty grave in Kilsynan Cemetery.
