Anne (Annie) GORDON

(25 Jan 1868 - 1948)

Annie emigrated to the United States in the late 1880s or 1890 and lived initially in Newport, Rhode Island. It is thought she worked in Newport as a maid for a Dr. Bannigan and for the Vanderbilt family.

She met James, her husband-to-be, in Newport and they moved to Whitinsville, a mill town in Massachusetts where job prospects were better. They and their family lived on Pine St. in Whitinsville.
