Bernard Capen

Bernard Capen was one of the first settlers of Dorchester. He was recorded as receiving land there 5 August 1633. He came to New England with his wife and three of his children. One or two of his older children may have come earlier.

Death
His is supposedly the oldest gravestone in New England.In his will he mentions his son John, the only son living at the time, and makes a general reference to his other children. He mentions his wife, but not by name.
