MYRON M. SCHMUCKER
(1977)
Myron McKinley Schmucker, son of Amos and Amanda (Wyse) Schmucker, was born November 26, 1897, and departed from this life unexpectedly on August 21 from a coronary attack at his home in Stryker, Ohio, at the age of 79 years, eight months, and 26 days. On December 4, 1919, he was married to Herma (Short), who preceded him in death in 1960. Their union was blessed with eight children. Surviving are two sons, Maurice of Archbold and Walter of Goshen, Ind.; six daughters, Virgie (Mrs. Mahler Wyse). Nellie (Mrs. Warren Wyse), both of Stryker; Bessie (Mrs. Leonard King) of Wauseon; Mary (Mrs. Vincent Beck) of Archbold, Anna Rose (Mrs. Ruben Fuentes) of Aibonito, Puerto Rico, and Carol Jean (Mrs. Virgil Eddy) of Barnesville, Ohio; 27 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Alfred, of Phoenix, Arizona, Harvey of Toledo, Ohio, and Floyd of Callendor, Qntario, Canada, and four sisters, Mrs. Arminda (Jen) Stuckey and Mrs. Emma Roth, both of West Unity, Ohio, Mrs. Pearl Aschliman and Mrs. Mary Short, both of Archbold, Ohio. On March 27, 1964, Myron was united in marriage with Katharine Rupp, who also survives. She provided him with faithful, loving companionship during the past 13 'bd years. Early in life he accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was a faithful member of the Lockport Mennonite Church. He was a lifetime resident of the Stryker-Archbold community, where he was engaged in farming until his retirement. A few years ago he suffered a light stroke from which he partially recovered. He enjoyed the fellowship of many friends and relatives who visited him in his semi-confinement years. Although he became physically handicapped he remained mentally alert as he enjoyed his life-time hobby of reading, from which he often shared little interesting anecdotes. He was deeply concerned for the welfare of his family. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the assurance of his eternal life through Christ. Funeral services were conducted by Grisier Funeral Home at Lockport Mennonite Church on August 24, with Revs. Keith Leinbach, Walter Stuckey, Jason Hollopeter officiating. Interment in Lockport cemetery.
