Kittie and LaVern had no children. The major part of their married life was spent in the restaurant business. Kittie worked in the food service department of the Battle Creek Sanitariam and later in the -----Heath restaurants in Battle Creek. She and her husband owned Blowers Cafeteria in Battle Creek until 1945. They later converted the restaurant into a gift shop and after that a children's shop. (Kittie's obit said that the shops were in -----ton Heights) they retired to acreage southeast of Battle Creek, Michigan, where they raised raspberries commercially.
