ARCHBOLD - Bernice M. Wyse, 88, of Archbold, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2006, at Fairlawn Haven Nursing Home in Archbold. Born Dec. 29, 1917, near Wayland, Iowa to Mina (Graber) and Fred Wyse, she married Maynard C. Wyse on June 10, 1937, and he preceded her in death in 1995. A resident of the Archbold area for many years, she lived in Sugarcreek from 1987 to 1992, and lived in Lakeland, Fla. from 1992 to 2000. She had lived at Fairlawn Haven since Oct. 25. In 1953 she and her husband began the former Wyse Book Store in Archbold. She was a member of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold and attended the Trinity United Methodist Church at Lakeland, Fla.
She is survived by two sons, Leland (and wife Joy) Wyse of Newcomerstown, and Douglas Wyse of Largo, Fla.; a daughter, Mrs. Russell (Linda) Smucker of Zanesville; two grandchildren; and one brother Wes (Evelyn) Wyse of Archbol. In addition to her parents and husband she was preceded in death by a daughter, Berdene Barnes, and a brother, Orlin Wyse. Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at Short Funeral Home in Archbold.
Memorial services will be held on Monday at 11 a.m. at the Zion Mennonite Church with pastors Ron Guengerich and Mona Sauder officiating. Interment will be in the Pettisville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Zion Church Building Fund.
