Edward Gilman

Colonial Families of the United States of America: Volume 5 ISSUE page 300 EDWARD GILMAN, of Easton and Hingham; b. 1587; d. in Exeter, New Hampshire, 22d June, 1681; m. 3d June, 1614, in England, Mary CLARK and with his wife, three sons, two daughters and three servants came to America 26th April, 1638 from Hingham, England, where his family was held in great esteem; leaving Gravesend, England on the ship Diligent of Ipswich, Capt. John MARTIN, and arrived at Boston, Massachusetts Bay Colony, 10th August, 1638, was admitted Freeman [p.300] 13th March, 1639; removed to Rehoboth, 1643, and to Ipswich soon after, where he was in 1647 and after 1652 to Exeter where he died. His descendants have been in civil office from the time Massachusetts became a royal province until the present time. Edward came to Boston in 1638 in the Diligent with his wife, three sons, two daughters, and two servants. He was from Hingham, England, where the family is still residing in high esteem. He was made a Freeman March 13, 1639. he removed to Rehoboth in 1643, and to Ipswich wsoon after, where he was in 1647, and Exeter, New Hampshire after 1652.
