Elizabeth Anna Morris

(1 Jun 1840 - 18 May 1922)

I am looking for any connection to a Thomas Avery that married to Elizabeth Morris. All I have on him is a mention in an obituary. Elizabeth was born abt 1853, probably in Kent,England. Her family came over around 1859 to NY and migrated to Tippecanoe County, Indiana. Belive that Thomas and Elizabeth were mentioned as living back in NY. The Lafayette Weekly Courier, Friday March 2, 1906: Caroline Horscroft-Morris-Fairman The death of Mrs. Caroline Fairman occurred at noon Tuesday at the home of her son, Charles Morris, in Dayton, IN. She had been ill a week and the immediate cause of death was pneumonia. Deceased was born in Kent, England in 1816 and came to this country in 1859, locating in New York. She was married to John Morris in Kent and he lived until 1861. Nine children were born to them, four of whom are living. Two sons served in the civil war and one was killed in battle. The children who survive are Charles, Dayton and George Morris of Monticello, IN., Mrs. Lottie Godfrey and Mrs. Elizabeth Avery. Mrs. Fairman moved to Dayton in 1864 and the following year was married to William Fairman who died in 1885. Mrs. Fairman joined the Episcopal church while living in England but when she came to the United States changed her membership to the Methodist church and was a power in the church of Dayton. She was a woman of many excellent traits of character and during her long life was the author of many kind deeds. The funeral was conducted from the Methodist church in Dayton Thursday morning at 10 o'clock. Rev. Martin of Thorntown, IN officiated and was assisted by Rev. R. D. Utter. The interment was made in Dayton cemetery. She has a picture of Grammy and aunt Maude... is Maude Elizabeth sister or s-i-l? Not sure what aunt she is. I expect this is Elizabeth rather than Mary Jane Avery because of her age.
