Referred to as Esther Smith in 1701 64:33 According to Oscar D McCollum, Jr, Parke Society Member #717, Mary was born as Mary Brintnall, but was raised by Smith's and adopted their names. Her mother may have remarried a Smith. It is not known if the Smith adopted her. Her first marriage was to a Paine, by whom she had two children: Josiah and Rachel. Esther was born in 1640 in St. George Parish, Stamford, Lincolnshire, England. Esther married Thomas in 1662/63 in Suffolk County, Boston, MA Thomas: BIRTH: GENEALOGICAL DICTIONARY OF THE FIRST SETTLERS OF NEW ENGLAND, by James Savage, pg 280; lived at 'Muddy River' pg 255. His probate record is abstracted from Bristol County Probate records. His wife Esther is mentioned. It calls her Esther Smith on 2-5-1701.
