Sewallis Edward Shirley, 10th Earl Ferrers was born on 24 January 1847.1 He was the son of Washington Sewallis Shirley, 9th Earl Ferrers and Lady Augusta Annabella Chichester.2 He married Lady Ina Maude Hedges-White, daughter of William Henry Hare Hedges-White, 3rd Earl of Bantry and Jane Herbert, on 24 October 1885.1 He died on 26 July 1912 at age 65, without issue.2
He succeeded as the 16th Baronet Shirley, of Staunton Harold [E., 1611] on 13 March 1859.2 He succeeded as the 10th Earl Ferrers [G.B., 1711] on 13 March 1859.2 He succeeded as the 10th Viscount Tamworth, of co. Stafford [G.B., 1711] on 13 March 1859.2 He graduated from Cambridge University, Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, EnglandG, with a Master of Arts (M.A.)2 He was appointed Knight, Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem (K.St.J.)2 He held the office of Justice of the Peace (J.P.) for Derbyshire.2
