Guelph IV d'Este Herzog von Bayern was born in 1045.2 He was the son of Azo II d'Este, Marchese d'Este and Cunigunde von Bayern.1 He married, firstly, Judith van Vlaanderen, daughter of Baldwinus IV Graaf van Vlaanderen Comte de Ternois et St. Pol et d'Artois and Eleonora de Normandie, in 1071.3 He married, secondly, Mathilde de Toscane, Marquise de Toscane, daughter of Boniface III de Toscane, Marquis de Toscane and Beatrix de Haute-Lorraine, in 1089.2 He died on 9 November 1101 at Cyprus.2
He gained the title of Herzog von Bayern in 1070.1 His marriage to Judith van Vlaanderen was annulled repudiated by Guelph. He was deposed as Duke of Bavaria in 1077.1 He succeeded to the title of Herzog von Bayern in 1096.1
