Thierry II, Comte de Lorraine was born in 1060.2 He was the son of Gerard, Duc de Lorraine and Hedwig de Nemours.1,3 He married, firstly, Hedwig of Formbach in 1075.3 He married, secondly, Gertrude van Vlaanderen, daughter of Robrecht I 'de Fries' Graaf van Vlaanderen Comte d'Artois and Gertrud Billung von Sachsen, on 15 August 1095 at Han-sur-Lesse, belgium.2 He died on 23 January 1115.1,2
He succeeded to the title of Comte de Lorraine in 1070.1
