Born Lebanon, Searcy County, Arkansas to John M. "Jack" & Mary Mae ( ) Hensley. Married 19 May 1857 in Marshall Prairie (later became Western Grove), Newton County, Arkansas. Only child, Claude Jerome Fowler 10 April 1858 - 1 Sep 1858. The heartbroken mother spent a lot of time leaning against a hollow tree at the foot of her son's grave. In December, in a freezing rain, she was there and died of pneumonia 11 December 1858. The hollow tree was cut down for a casket, and she was buried in an old-fashioned rock slab box tomb by her son's grave.
