William is possibly the son of Samuel Fleming for immigrated from Ireland in 1768 and received a land grant in Queensborough Township.

Family tradition says his wife's name was Mary Laird.

He might have had two brothers ..

1) Laird B. Fleming who married Jemima Hodges in 1814 in Jefferson Co., GA
2) William Fleming, Jr. A passport was given by the governor of GA to William Fleming, Jr. 9 Sep 1811 to travel through the Creek Nation
