Jacob Smith, Old Time Resident Passed Away- Jacob Smith, aged 88 years, an old-time resident of Douglas, passed from this life on Thursday afternoon, while en rout for the hospital in Denver.

He suffered a bout of ptomaine poisoning some three weeks ago, but seemed to be getting along nicely. However, on Thursday afternoon he took a turn for the worse and medical aid was smmoned from Castle Rock. When the doctor arrived he recognized that Mr. Smith was in very serious condition and recommended that he be rushed to the hospital in Denver for treatment.

His son Wilbur, accompanied by Bert Jones and Charles Metz, started by auto, to take Mr. Smith to the hospital. When about half way between Castle Rock and Sedalia, death came to relieve Mr. Smith of frther suffering. Wilbur and his companions turned around and came back to the doctor's office in Castle Rock.

The body was taken to the Andrews Funeral Home where funeral will be held next Monday afternoon. Burial will be made in Cedar Hill Cemetery at Castle Rock.
