Burial
Obituary: Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, February 4, 2016 at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral Home Chapel for Mina Spell Ford, 96, who died at 3:53 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 in Crowley, LA. Rev. Lewis Morris, Pastor of First Methodist Church of Crowley, LA will conduct the services. Burial will follow in the Indian Bayou Methodist Cemetery. Visitation may be observed on Wednesday from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 8:00 a.m. until service time. Mina was born April 9, 1919 in Indian Bayou, LA. She was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. She worked for the Daily Signal for 16 years as a proof reader. She was also involved with the Salvation Army, Crowley Christian Care and was a Pink Lady at the American Legion Hospital for 30 years. She was a sales director with Olen Mills Portrait Studio. Mrs. Ford is survived by her son John Ford of Crowley, LA; son-in-law Jim Duplantis of Baton Rouge, LA and a sister Mary Dubose of Dallas, TX. She was preceded in death by her parents Horence and Hester Morgan Spell; Her husband Sylvan Ford and her daughter KathleenDuplantis. The family request any memorial donations be made to the First Methodist Church of Crowley or the Indian Bayou Methodist Church.
