Jesse Albert Wilder

CROWLEY, La. - Jesse A. Wilder, 75, prominent Acadia parish farmer, died at his home near Crowley at 2:15 p. m. Sunday after an illness of several months.
Funeral services will be held in the First Methodist church here with burial to follow in the Woodlawn cemetery. The time for the services has not been set pending the arrival of a son stationed with the U. S. Army on Formosa. The body will remain at the Geesey-Ferguson Funeral home until the hour of the rites.
Mr. Wilder was born on March 29, 1880 in Acadia parish. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic Order, and the Odd Fellows Lodge.
Surviving are his wife, the former Ruth Blakeman; four sons, Jack, Herschel, and George Wilder, all of Crowley, and Major Sam Wilder stationed with the U. S. Army on Formosa; three daughters, Mrs. Arthur Dommert of Crowley, Mrs. Clovis Bailey of Jennings, and Mrs. John Copeland of Omaha, Neb.; a brother, Dave Wilder of Biloxi, Miss.; five sisters, Mrs. Gus Dinkler of Daytona Beach, Fla., Mrs. W. E. Barnes of Birmingham, Ala., Mrs. Cyril Leech of Broomall, Pa., Mrs. W. W. Duson of Long Island, N. Y., and Mrs. Warren Stewart of Shreveport; and 14 grandchildren.

Jesse and Ruth were the first couple to be married in the First Methodist (Episcopal) Church South, Crowley, Louisiana. Peggy was the only child of Jesse and Ruth to be married in the same church.
