Death Notices/Obituaries - After a courageous battle with cancer, ELEANOR FRANCES "CHI CHI" CRAWFORD COLEMAN of Richmond, Texas passed away. She was a beautiful, loving, generous, kind person who never closed her heart to anyone. She was born January 11, 1945 and passed away in the comfort of home May 8, 2000. She was born and grew up in Crowley, La. and attended college at the University of Southwestern Louisiana, where she received a bachelor's degree in business administration. She spent close to 25 years of her life working for Conoco Inc. in Houston, a job she loved deeply and where she had many friends. Chi Chi never lost hope in her battle with breast cancer. Her strength and courage were admired by all of those who were part of her life. Chi Chi loved animals and enjoyed fishing and walking along the beach in Galveston. At 55, she was taken from us too early and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her. She is survived by her loving children, Shannon Coleman Otermat of Houston and John Forrest Coleman III of Richmond, Texas, son-in-law Steve Otermat of Houston, mother Shirley Hoffpauir Crawford of Crowley, sister Kayren Mingus of Houston, niece Elizabeth "Liz" McDaniel of Houston, nephew William "Bill" McDaniel of Kaplan, La, many other family and friends, and her devoted dog Harding. Her father George William Crawford precedes her in death. Family will receive friends from 5 to 8 PM, Wednesday Memorial Oaks, and services will be held at the Memorial Oaks Chapel, at 3:30 p.m., Thursday. Serving as pallbearers will be John Forrest Coleman, Jr., Edward Shires, Tony Voigt, Carlos Rivera, John Mingus and Arthur Otermat.
