Death
Obituary: Ella Hoffpauir Sweeney, 92, passed away in her residence Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2007, with family at her side. She was a native of Gueydan and a longtime resident of Lake Charles. Ella was a member of University Methodist Church. She worked with Calcasieu Marine National Bank for 17 years. Ella was a member of the Ladies of Sahara, Ruth Chapter 16, Order of the Eastern Star, and she volunteered as a Pink Lady at Moss Regional hospital. She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Merritt V. Sweeney, and their three children, Carleton and Janice Sweeney of Baton Rouge, Charles and Charlotte Sweeney of Houston, and Lynn and Coleman LeBleu of Lake Charles; eight grandchildren, Mike and Nina Sweeney of Covington, Suzanne and Scott Keagle of Baton Rouge, Brother Chris Sweeney of New Orleans, Craig and Mignon Sweeney of Madisonville, Stephen and Nathalie Sweeney of Houston, Brad Sweeney of Birmingham, Jeff and Kelly LeBleu and Pam and Jay McKinney of Lake Charles; and 10 great-grandchildren. Her funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 16, in Johnson Funeral Home. The Rev. Marvin Douglas will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. Visitation is 5-8 p.m. today (Nov. 15), with a 6:30 p.m. Order of the Eastern star service, and from 8 a.m. Friday. ( Lake Charles American press)Endnotes
