Individual Details

Michel Aucoin and Elizabeth Hebert, his wife, disembarked at St. Malo on January 23, 1759 from one of the "Five Ships". They resided in the following parishes: St. Enogat, 1759-1761; St. Lunaire, 1761-1763; St. Enogat, 1763-1772. Michel Aucoin, Elizabeth Hebert, his wife and their children: Jean, Michel, Pierre, Francois, Constant, Marie, Anne, Isabelle, Florianne and Gregoire were passengers on the ship La Ville D'Archangel which departed France on August 12, 1785 and arrived in Louisiana on December 3, 1785. Michel Aucoin, his wife Elizabeth (or Isabelle) Hebert and their children were the 21st family on La Ville d'Archangel which arrived in New Orleans 3 Dec 1785. Ref pg. 93 of Hebert's "Acadian Families in Exile - 1785". Michel was given the standard equipment on leaving the ship: 1 hatchet, 1 knife, 1 large knife, 2 axes, 1 hoe, and 3 shovels.
Sometime between his arrival, and the census of 1795, Michel died. In 1795 we find his widow with her son listed as the head of her family, residing on the Bayou Lafourche.
