Death
Obituary: James Dudley Hoffpauir James Dudley Hoffpauir was born on September 17, 1926, at Indian Bayou, Louisiana. He died on March 5, 2007, after a lengthy illness. Mr. Hoffpauir graduated from Lagrange High School, Lake Charles, La. in 1944 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force shortly thereafter. He served in the Japanese occupation force. After serving, he attended Southwestern University where he met and married Glyn White in 1948. Mr. Hoffpauir graduated from Southwestern University in 1950 with a degree in business administration. While in College worked at the Georgetown Oldsmobile-Cadillac dealership. He purchased a Dodge- Plymouth dealership in 1952 in Comanche. He also worked for the Chevrolet Motor Division of General Motors for several years and graduated from General Motors Management Institute. He purchased the Chevrolet dealership in Lampasas in 1964 adding other General Motor lines over the years. In 1984 he partnered with Dan Shrader in Hoffpauir-Shrader Chevrolet, Oldsmobile, Buick Inc., which is still in the family today. In 1989, he purchased the Ford-Mercury franchise in Lampasas. His son, Lee Hoffpauir manages these dealerships today. Mr. Hoffpauir owned other business endeavors over the years including serving as Chairman of the Board of Farmers State Bank, Bertram for many years. He was very active in his community and served several terms as Mayor and Alderman of the City of Lampasas. A past president of the Lampasas County Chamber of Commerce, he was proud to participate in the purchase of Rollins-Brook Community Hospital. He belonged to and served on many community and civic boards and organizations. Mr. Hoffpauir was a member of the Saratoga Masonic Lodge, the Lampasas Lions club, the Lampasas Industrial Foundation, the American Legion, a past director of Texas Automobile Dealers Association, a member of the First United Methodist Church of Lampasas, and many other organizations. Service: Family visitation on Wednesday, March 7th, from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Sneed Funeral Chapel. Memorial Service at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 8th at First United Methodist Church, Lampasas. Survivors include his wife, Glyn White Hoffpauir; his son Lee Hoffpauir and his wife Jana Hoffpauir; and his daughter Sue Ann Harton and her husband Hal Harton; his grandchildren: Josh Cates, Chelsea Dunnahoe, Emily Dunnahoe, Scott Harton and Holly Harton. His brother Vaughn Hoffpauir also survives him. Mr. Hoffpauir was preceded in death by his parents, Eber Hoffpauir and Myrtle Morgan Hoffpauir; his brothers Buel Hoffpauir, Tad Hoffpauir, and Arlis Hoffpauir and sisters Fern Pryor, Ruth Snider, and Doveda Foreman The family requests that memorials be made to Rollins-Brook Community Hospital, First United Methodist Church of Lampasas, or the Lampasas Public Library.
