Burial
Obituary: Rieves Munson Hoffpauer died Monday evening, October 12, 2009, aged 86. Cause of death was congestive heart failure. Born October 3, 1923 in Shreveport, Louisiana, to John Percy Hoffpauer and Matty Boyd Bull, themselves originally of Rayne, Louisiana, Rieves was the youngest of five children to survive to adulthood. He grew up in Tyler, Texas, leaving school in the seventh grade to work at whatever he could to bring money into the family. He volunteered for service in the United States Navy during World War II, where he met his wife, Dorislee Riley of Portland, Oregon. He attended the University of California at Berkeley, but when the couple became a family, he went to work. Rieves and Dorislee and their five sons eventually settled in Richardson, Texas. Rieves was a manufacturers' representative eventually founder and CEO of his own agency, Southwest Marketing and Sales, carrying lines in the automotive aftermarket. Rieves was a life member of the old Hawthorne Lodge of the A. F. & A. M. in Portland, Oregon. He spent the last years of his life devoted to the care of is wife of 63 years. He is survived by his wife, Dorislee and sons Robert, John, Daniel, Larry, and William. A memorial service will be held in the Wildwood Chapel of Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, on Saturday, October 17, 2009, at 12:30 P. M. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to either the American Heart Association, Alzheimer's Association or the American Diabetes Foundation. Internment of ashes will be to the above ground columbarium wall at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway in southwest Dallas County, on Friday, October 23, 2009, at 11:00 A.M.
