Carroll L. Hoffpauir, a retired chemist, died Thursday at East Jefferson General Hospital. He was 85. Mr. Hoffpauir was born in Jackson and lived in Metairie for the past 60 years. He worked for Southern Regional Research Lab for 35 years and served as assistant director. He was a member of Munholland United Methodist Church and several professional chemical societies. Survivors include his wife, Anna V. Hoffpauir; a son, John W. Hoffpauir of Green Cove Springs, Fla.; a daughter, Carol Ann Hall of Shreveport; and seven grandchildren. A funeral will be held today at 2 p.m. at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Burial will be in Lake Lawn Park Cemetery.
