Ellis Albert Hoffpauir
(28 Sep 1889 - 14 Mar 1977)
From The Leesville Leader of Dec 5, 1929: [src: Pam Smart, Vernon Parish GenWeb page] Tues. at Anacoco, Ellis Hoffpauir & Tim Davis arrested a man and brought him to Leesville for incarceration. He is charged with non-support of a wife from whom he is divorced, but to whom the court ordered him to pay alimony of $20 per month. The man, married again, was cutting logs for a living. The question naturally arises: How will wife number one collect alimony from him while he is in jail? We have not heard of any of the prisoners up there getting a pay day. This was taken from the book '29 Was A Good Year in Vernon Parish, Edited by Erbon W. Wise
