INDIAN BAYOU (Lafayette Daily Advertiser, October 14, 2000) Funeral services for Lois Spell Morgan, 79, of Indian Bayou, will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, 2000, at Indian Bayou United Methodist Church in Indian Bayou. The Rev. Ross Genger will officiate at the services. Interment will be in Indian Bayou United Methodist Cemetery in Indian Bayou.
Lois Spell Morgan died at 8 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 12, 2000, at Lafayette General Hospital in Lafayette. She was an active lifelong member of the Indian Bayou United Methodist Church.
An elementary school teacher, Mrs. Morgan taught over 30 years at schools in Gueydan, Judice and Indian Bayou. She was a member of the Tri-Parish Indian Squaws and the Kaplan Cajun Magnolias Home Demonstration Clubs.
Over the years, Mrs. Morgan sent multitudes of baked goods and cards to many friends for all types of occasions. Her generosity and thoughtfulness will not be forgotten.
Mrs. Morgan is survived by her husband, Gervis Morgan of Indian Bayou; one son and his spouse, Randy and Jeanette Morgan of Indian Bayou; two brothers, Alden Spell of Buna, Texas, and V.G. Spell of Orange, Texas; four grandchildren, Karen Hannon, Rhonda Morgan, Crystal Trosclair and Marcus Morgan; and five great-grandchildren, Spencer, Ashley, Kelsey, Christian and Joseph.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Clede and Hazel Spell.
Visitation hours were observed at the church in Indian Bayou from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday and will continue from 8 a.m. today until time of the services.
