"In January, 1886, J. Ivy Hoffpauir, younger brother of Abel Hoffpauir, was appointed to Jennings and Kimball's Chapel. "Rev. Ivy Hoffpauir was preacher at the IB Methodist Church for two four year terms. He was presiding Elder at one time, one of the best Evangelists of his time, and held revival meetings throughout the state.".......Will Hoffpauir
Ivy Hoffpauir was born in 1858 before the civil war began. He was educated in theology school and was ordained as a Methodist minister. He spent the first fifteen years preaching in various cities across Louisiana. In 1893, he settled in Vermilion Parish to raise a family of three sons and two daughters. There he inherited land, bought land, and held the ministry at Indian Bayou Methodist Church until his retirement. He passed away at the age of 66.
