Mathurin Trahan

Mathurin Trahan and his wife Marie Madelaine are listed in the 1791 censusof Lafourche des Chetimachas are shown as being aged 29 and 23 respectively, which would have made him born in 1762 and her born in 1768. Their daughters listed were Marie Anne, 3 (1788), Rosalie, 2 (1789), and Margrithe, 1 (1790).
He first appears in a census in 1788, is listed as having 6 arpents on the right bank, between Marie Hebert (widow Moyse) and his brother, Anselme.
There are several records of land sales along Bayou Lafourche that mention Mathurin Trahan. On 15 October 1792, he is recorded as selling a tract of land to his neighbor, Francois Frilloux, 3 arpents and 4 feet front, on the right bank of the bayou, bounded above by Mathurin's land and below by Francois Frilloux. A few days later, Francois in turn sells this tract plus some additional of his land, to Etienne Peltier.
Later, on 16 October 1795 Marie, his widow, is recorded as selling and additional 5 arpents frontage or the remaining land to Laurent Blanchard (her brother).
