Death
Obituary: SCOTT - Funeral services will be held at a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2007, at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Scott for Donald "Don" Louis Duhon, 52, who passed away Friday, March 2, 2007, at his residence. The Rev. Gilbert J. Dutel, pastor of Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, will be Celebrant of the Mass and will conduct the funeral service. Musical selections will be "Here I Am Lord," "Be Not Afraid" and "Amazing Grace." Interment will be held at the church cemetery. Mr. Duhon was a lifelong resident of Scott since his birth, Jan. 22, 1954. He was a long-time employee of the City of Scott. He was an avid fisherman and enjoyed shrimping and crabbing at his camp in Rollover. In addition he spent much time doing woodwork and giving great joy to others with his handcrafted gifts. He was a volunteer fireman for many years and along with other firemen continued to delight children by playing Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny. Mardi Gras was a fun time for him to spend with family and friends. He took great pleasure in setting up an all day barbecue and party each year for the Scott Mardi Gras Parade. Survivors include his mother, Alice "Rita" Hoffpauir Duhon; one brother, Gervis "G" Duhon and his wife, Genie, of Lafayette; one nephew, Brad Duhon, of Scott; one niece, Shelly Trahan and her husband, Darryl, of Lafayette, and their children, Phillip Lanclos, Tori and Adrienne Trahan. In addition, "Don-Don" had the honor of being godfather to several children. Don was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Alcee and Jute Bergeron Duhon; his maternal grandparents, Noah and Ida Miller Hoffpauir; and his father, Dudley Joseph Duhon. Pallbearers will be Keith Blanchard, Kevin Daigle, Larry Guidry, Horace Romero, John Keith Trahan and Darryl Trahan. Honorary pallbearers will be Phillip Lanclos, Danny Duhon, Howard Duhon, Hubert Maitre, Joseph Boudreaux, Lenny Lagrange, Lynn Porrier, Floyd Hoffpauir, Calvin Hoffpauir, Tim Daugereaux and his fellow workers at Scott City Hall. Visitation will be Sunday, March 4, 2007, from 10 a.m. until 10 p.m. and will continue Monday, March 5, 2007, from 8 a.m. until time of service. A rosary will be recited at 4 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home.
