Obituary: B. Ray Champagne, 66, a Sulphur native and long-time resident of Lafayette and Lake Charles and Incline Village, Nev., died suddenly from a massiive heart attack on Thursday, July 23, 2009, in Las Vagas, Nev. He was preceded in death by his father, Edward David Champagne; mother, Ruth Hoffpauir Champagne; and a brother, Edward David Champagne II. He is survived by his sons, Bryce and Elliot; his daughters-in-law, Tiffany and Julie; his grandsons, Chace and Jett; his granddaughter, Carley; his former wife, Sheila Champagne; his aunt, Thelma Champagne Lyons; his sisters, Mona Pellerin, Alyne Champagne, Charlene Parrish and Ann Rasmussen; his brothers, John and James; and numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 22, in Johnson Funeral Home. Father Danny Torres will officiate.
