Edward David Champagne Jr.

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 24, 2002, at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. Edmond Catholic Church for Edward D. Champagne Jr., 62, who died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, April 22, 2002, at Medical Center of Southwest Louisiana.
Interment will be in Mimosa Pines in Sulphur.
The Rev. Gary Schexnayder, pastor of St. Edmond Catholic Church, will be the celebrant of the funeral Mass and will conduct the services. Musical selections for the services will be, "Amazing Grace," "Ave Maria," "The Old Rugged Cross" and "One Bread, One Body."
Survivors include his wife, Wanda B. Champagne, of Lafayette; three daughters, Threasa Daniels and her husband, Jeff, of Dallas, Texas, Michelle Diaz and her husband, Gustavo, of Colorado, and Chelsa C. Champagne, of Lafayette; two sons, Edward D. Champagne III and his wife, Moriah, of Dallas, and Carl C. Champagne, of Lafayette; two grandchildren, Joshua Diaz and Timber Rhea Champagne; four sisters, Mona Faye Pellerin and Ann Rasmussen, both of Baton Rouge, Ruth Alyne Champagne, of Lake Charles and Charlene Parrish, of DeRidder; and three brothers, Ray Champagne of Lake Tahoe, Nev., James L. Champagne of Tyler, Texas, and Johnny B. Champagne, of Baton Rouge.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A native of Sulphur, Mr. Champagne was a resident of Lafayette for most of his life. He was the son of the late Edward David Champagne Sr., a native of Lake Arthur, and the former Mary Ruth Eauir, a native of Rayne.
He was a veteran of military service, having served in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Champagne was owner/operator of Champagne's Commercial Equipment. He was a member of the St. Edmond Catholic Community and the P.G.A.
A rosary will be prayed at 7 p.m. today in Martin & Castille Funeral Home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 1 p.m. until 10 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. Wednesday until time of the services.
Pallbearers will be Richard Pellerin, Hugh Bordelon Jr., Neal Bordelon, Eric Pearson, Bryce Champagne and John Turner. Honorary pallbearers are Hugh Bordelon Sr., Brandon Pearson, John Champagne, James Champagne and Jody Bordelon.
